thacalvinator asked: Hi! :) I love your blog! I literally just laugh out loud whenever I see winner headlines. :)) Anyway, I'm about to start as an intern at an ad agency soon, and I'd love to hear a more personal account about the work. For starters, are you a copywriter or an art director? How does a day usually go? :)
I am a copywriter.
I usually roll in around 10:00, have a cup of coffee, make a blog post, make my morning chat rounds, and do a little work before lunch. Lunch can last anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour and a half. Then I come back, do some work, go poop, hang out, get coffee, do some more work, make another blog post. Etc and so on.
Just kidding. That’s on the slowest of slow days. But I am lucky in that the agency I work at has great work/life balance, so there’s a lot of freedom to do things like that during the day.
As an intern: pay attention to everything. Be willing to do anything. Don’t develop an attitude. Be enthusiastic. Make friends. Enjoy yourself. You’re there to learn.
Good luck!
Thank you, Bernard (who is a coder, y’all), for sending me this brow-furrowing gif. I like it much.
Also, every guy on a hot summer’s day.
Also, what is this? A gif for ants?
Another from the gif-prolific Meghan.
